The second annual “Shale Drilling and Public Health: Days of Discovery”
Presented by the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania’s Shale and Public Health Committee took place on Sunday afternoon October 26 and Monday October 27.

Public health and medical professionals were encouraged to attend, as well as those in the field of environmental law.
“Shale and Public Health: Days of Discovery” was planned in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh Region 3 Pennsylvania Public Health Training Center (PAPHTC).

Shale and Public Health: Days of Discovery has been planned in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh Region 3 Public Health Training Center.

The University of Pittsburgh Region 3 Public Health Training Center is an approved provider of continuing professional education by the National Board of Public Health Examiners. Individuals Certified in Public Health may be awarded 3 Certified in Public Health Continuing Education Units (CPHCEU) for completion of day 1 of this conference, October 26, 2014.

The University of Pittsburgh Region 3 Public Health Training Center is an approved/accredited provider of continuing professional education by the PA Board of Nursing. Registered nurses in Pennsylvania may be awarded 3 Continuing Education Hours for completion of day 1 (10/26/14) of this conference under Act 58 of 2006 and 49 PA Code, Chapter 21 §21.134 (Continuing Education Sources) of the rules and and regulations of the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Day 1 (10/26/14) of this program is offered for 3 hours of social work continuing education through co-sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work, a Council on Social Work Education-accredited school and, therefore, a PA pre-approved provided of social continuing education. These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW, LPC and LMFT biennial license renewal.

The University of Pittsburgh Region 3 Public Health Training Center is an approved provider of continuing professional education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. Certified Health Education Specialists may be awarded 3Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH Category I entry) and Master Certified Health Education Specialists may be awarded 3 Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH Category I advanced) for completion of day 1 of this conference, October 26, 2014.
